Overview

major concept of personality is existence of "I" within mind, identity, which is required for consciousness
while mind contains many unique aggregated centers, identity belongs to consciousness, and therefore is a part of mind required for conscious state - neocortex and intercortical thalamus
because thalamus is a complex transition center and cannot be origin of identity, real centers of identity are within neocortex
identity is manyfold:
- body identity within insular cortex
- mental (habits and judgements) identity within orbitofrontal cortex
